White Lightning is a powerful hoof treatment for White Line Disease, thrush, and hoof rot that uses chlorine dioxide to neutralize bacteria, fungi and yeast. It is available in two main forms: a liquid solution that must be activated with vinegar and a gel that is ready to use.
If you have a stubborn serious case of white line disease this is the product to use.
White Lightning Liquid (Soak)
The liquid form is typically used as a deep-penetrating soak. The chemical reaction between the solution and vinegar produces a gas that reaches deep into the hoof.
Mix equal parts White Lightning Liquid and white vinegar in a non-metal container. A common dose is 2 oz of each.
Clean the hoof of all dirt and debris.
Place the hoof into a heavy-duty plastic bag or soaking boot containing the mixture and enough water to reach halfway up the hoof wall.
Secure the top of the bag (e.g., with vetwrap or duct tape) to trap the chlorine dioxide gas, which is the active agent.
Duration: Soak for 40–45 minutes.
Frequency: Repeat 2–3 times per week for 4–6 weeks, then 1–2 times per week until the hoof grows out completely.
